MAC Me Fabulous

21:00:00

This may come as a little bit of a shock, but I am a MAC Virgin! *faints* So whilst I was out in Manchester today, I decided to pop into Selfridges and head along to the MAC counter. I was nervous as I don't deal well with people I don't know. But the girl on the counter was so nice and helpful, I told her I had never used MAC before, so she sat me down in one of the chairs and asked what I would like. I asked for a foundation colour match, she asked what kind of coverage I liked and I told her I would like full coverage, she began first by removing the makeup I was currently wearing. She then checked my natural skin tone and toddled off. She came back with 3 different matches in the Studio Fix Liquid, NC20, NC25 & NC30. We then switched them on my jawbone to see which match was best. We decided on NC25 as I have olive toned skin.

She asked if I would like her to do my makeup, and I said yes. She started by removing the swatch samples, and then applying a primer to my face, it was the Oil Control Lotion. It was a white lotion a bit like a moisturiser, it smelt so nice and left my skin feeling baby soft and looking pore free. She then began to apply the Studio Fix Liquid foundation using a stipple brush (I love my stipple brush!) all over my face, she then finished off with a swoop of the Select Sheer/Pressed Powder in the same colour as my foundation. I couldn't believe how different I looked when I stared into the mirror, my skin looked flawless! I walked out of selfridges and around Manchester with my head held high and big smile on my face, I felt like Beyoncé! Although I certainly didn't wake up like this!

Now obviously I've not had a real chance to use these myself yet, as everyone knows a professional doing your makeup will always look better than your own handy work, and I've only just walked through the door and sat down (cup of tea first) to write this post, but I am going to trial them for a week or two and then write a post reviewing them! I don't usually wear makeup unless I am leaving the house and entering the outside world, but I'm going to make the effort to do my makeup everyday (unless it's a slob day, we all have them, admit it!) to make sure I get a good chance of using them. I did forget to pick up a pump for the foundation, so I popped over to the MAC website to order one, when I got to the checkout, there was two samples in my basket, the False Lash Effect Mascara, and a sample of the foundation I had just bought, what a win win situation! I will definitely be going back, and soon! Possibly as soon as pay day, I think I've just developed a new obsession. And I want/need everything in sight! Thanks for reading and if you have any MAC suggestions, pop them in the comments below and I'll be sure to pick them up!

It sounds like you had a really good experience. I'm always a bit scared of makeup counters!!

  3. I'm nc25 as well! Sounds like you had fun in Mac :) I love brand so much and so glad you've come across them! The fix fluid looks good :) I had pro longwear and liked it. I have sooooo many favourites from Mac that it would be embarrassing to write them all down! But definitely have a look at the lipsticks, I find it so hard to wear other lipsticks now!

    1. I've found since getting home and using the foundation myself that NC25 seems a little too 'orange' for my skin tone. Maybe that's just in the Studio Fix Fluid? I'm going to give Pro Longwear a try, I'll also try NC20 and see if that's a better match. I don't want anything too light as I sometimes like to wear fake tan.

I would love to hear a couple of your favourites though!xx
