How I Clean My Makeup Brushes

14:30:00

Hi lovelies,

I thought I would put this post together as I see a lot of people asking the best way to clean your makeup brushes! Im not saying this is the best way, but this is my way and it works pretty well for me!

What You Will Need:
Makeup Brushes
Brush Shampoo/Baby Shampoo
Clean Towel
Small Jar *optional*

Firstly run your brush under warm (not too hot, not too cold) water. This will get it ready for the shampoo and makes it easier to lather.

Then you want to add the brush shampoo/baby shampoo to your brush. You will only need a small amount, trust me, a little goes a long way!

Then I will either swirl the brush around the palm of my hand, or into a jar of warm water to clear the shampoo from the bristles.

You then want to rinse your brushes in warm water again until the water runs clear. This may take a little while and I sometimes have to repeat the process a couple of times if I haven't washed them in a while.

I then like to get a small comb and brush the bristles getting rid of any knots that formed when swirling around my palm/in the jar. I then shake out any excess water and lay them flat on a clean towel to air dry.

I do try to clean my brushes at least once a week but sometimes I forget, and I've gone a month without cleaning them *ew* it's such a chore, but it really does make your makeup look better and your skin is cleaner as there isn't any dirt/bacteria being transferred back and forth.

Let me know if this helped you and what your favourite brush shampoos are!

  2. Thank you! Yeah I think everyone has a different way to clean their brushes but they all end up with the same result. If it works for you, that's all that matters! Baby shampoo is great and so soft! x
